sizes. Here we will share with you those common sizes and the card
sizes to go with them.
We will also share with you tips for cutting and folding your paper
to match the envelope sizes, as well as some mailing guidelines for
card makers.

Cards should be folded parallel to the
short side of the paper in order to fit into the envelopes
listed above.

The above card sizes given are for standard
cards. Lots of layers and other 3 dimensional items can increase the
thickness of your card.

If you have an envelope size not listed above,
create a card 1/4 inch less on each size than the envelope. To cut
your paper, take one dimension and double it.
Postal
and mailing guidelines for cardmakers:
It can be embarrassing to create a beautiful
piece of art only to have the recipient be nailed with an
insufficient postage fee. To help avoid this from happening, here
are a few tips for you.
Additional postage is required for the following items:

Square envelopes
-
Envelopes longer than 11 1/2
inches
-
Envelopes taller than 6 1/8
inches
-
Envelopes thicker than 1/4 inch
-
Envelopes weighing more than an
ounce

Clear
plastic envelopes
-
Envelopes with clasps, strings, buttons, or other closures
-
If
the delivery address is written on the shorter side of the
envelope
-
If it
contains items that cause an uneven thickness –
Embellishers, beware of this one!
Be sure
your envelopes meet mailing requirements:

Envelopes must be a minimum of 5 inches long
-
Envelopes must be a minimum of 3 ½ inches tall
-
If mailing a clear, colored, or
patterned envelope, be sure to use a white sticker to
address your envelope.
