Commercially made rubber stamping
products can be costly. We have started a list on products you can
make at home for a fraction of the cost.
Make your own rubber stamp cleaner:
Simple Green all purpose cleaner is
a non-toxic, biodegradable cleaning agent. It is sold in
concentrated form and can be found in discount stores in the
cleaning or automotive section. For the price of a small commercial
stamp cleaner, you can purchase enough concentrate to make 72 ounces
of stamp cleaner.
For cleaning rubber stamps I use the following:
in a 4 ounce spray bottle
mix 1/4 cup Simple Green with 1/2 cup water
(1 part Simple green with 2 parts water)
I then spray it directly on the stamp and rub on my stamp cleaner
pad. After I am done stamping, I spray my laminate work surface with
it as well and wipe with a cloth. It is just as white as the day I
bought it.
It works even on Staz-on! (Did I mention you can use it as an all
purpose home cleaner, laundry stain remover. . . etc? - And it is
eco friendly!)
2 tablespoons plus
2 teaspoons glycerin
5 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon rubbing alcohol
Keep in a jar or bottle with a dropper tip.
Homemade envelope glue
recipe:
1 Tablespoon white
glue
1 Tablespoon white vinegar
1 drop flavored extract (peppermint, almond, etc.)
Brush flap of
envelope with mixture and allow to dry. When ready to use, lick,
seal, and send : ) I store mine in the sponge top dauber used for
moistening envelope flaps at the office supply store by the mailing
supplies.
